This action expands the existing Fuel Efficient Vehicle Purchasing Policy by adding a phased replacement plan for applicable municipal fleets. A planned approach helps align procurement cycles with emissions goals, manage costs, and ensure departments have vehicles that meet operational needs while improving efficiency (and, over time, electrification readiness). Success looks like a clear replacement schedule, improved fleet fuel economy, lower fuel and maintenance costs, and a steady transition toward cleaner municipal vehicles.
