Many sustainable practices—native plantings, rain gardens, reduced lawn area, permeable surfaces—are beneficial but not always the default choice due to cost, awareness, or uncertainty. This action uses rebates, incentives, and education to make sustainable landscaping and green infrastructure easier and more attractive for community members. The objective is to scale practices that reduce runoff, protect water quality, improve biodiversity, and increase climate resilience at the parcel and neighborhood level. Success looks like increased participation in incentive programs, more properties implementing green infrastructure, measurable stormwater and water quality benefits, and visible community normalization of climate-smart landscaping.
